ACCOMMODATION:

Study in UK

We understand that effective language learning depends on many external things, not least the comfort of the student's accommodation and the friendliness of the host. For this reason, many of our students are placed with local English speaking HOST-FAMILIES  who we have selected with care by our experienced accommodation officers.

BENEFITS OF STAYING WITH A HOST FAMILY:

As an alternative to homestay accommodation, many of our students prefer to choose a RESIDENTIAL option. We offer many residences in London - all within easy travelling distance of Central London. All are close to our English Centre in London, and open throughout the year

Short-term study Visa for the UK

This route is only for students who apply for entry clearance to do an English language course between 6 and 11 months long. For study of up to 6 months, you may instead be able to undertake this under the visitor route.

*You can apply for entry clearance from any country outside the UK, but you must have permission to be in the country from which you apply.

*You must be 16 or older when you apply (which is when you pay the immigration application fee).

*You must be accepted onto an English language course which is at least six months and no longer than 11 months in duration at an accredited provider. An accredited provider is one which:

-is a licensed Student sponsor listed on the Student sponsor register; or

-holds valid accreditation from a Home Office approved accreditation body;

-holds a valid and satisfactory full institutional inspection from a Home Office approved inspection body;

*You are not required to have a minimum English language ability, but your course provider may have specific admissions criteria.

*There are no minimum hours which you must be studying during your time in the UK.

You must intend to leave the UK within 30 days of the end of your study (if it is before the date your immigration permission ends). If your study (as stated in the letter you presented to the Home Office as part of your short-term student immigration application) continues until the date that your immigration permission ends, you must leave the UK no later than the date your immigration permission ends.

As a short-term student, you cannot do any kind of work, work placement or work experience during your studies in the UK. In addition, you cannot engage in any business or professional activities in the UK.

The current application fee is £200 and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) fee which is £470.

Evidence of funds which show that you have enough money to support yourself while you are in the UK.  There is no specific amount of money you must show when you apply for a short-term student visa. However you must show that you have enough money to support yourself  adequately without recourse to public funds and without working.

Finance. Note that the evidence of funds must be in your name (either alone or as a joint account holder), or provided by an 'official financial sponsor' , or a combination. From 5 October 2023 funds in the name of your parent, or legal guardian will be accepted if you also provide proof of your relationship and written consent from the parent or legal guardian to use those funds. Details are HERE

Student Visa (this visa has replaced the Tier 4 General student visa)

Details are HERE

With this visa you can stay for more than 6 months.
You can extend a General Student Visa  in the UK.
The decision to give you a visa depends on the number of points you have. You need a total of 40 points to get a visa.
You get points for the following: CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) Number = 30 points and Enough money = 10 points.

CAS Number.  A CAS number is provided by a sponsor. In the case of a General Student Visa this is the School. If you are applying for a general student visa you will need a CAS. We will give you this when you have booked and paid for your course.

Money.  if this is your initial application, you need enough money in your account to cover your living expenses in London for 9 months (If you will be studying in inner London) or for the length of your course (if it's shorter than 9 months). You need to have £1,334 for each month. Therefore if your course lasts for nine months or more you will have to show minimum £12,006. This money must be in your account for at least 28 days before you apply for your Tier 4 visa.

Note: If you will be studying elsewhere in the UK, the monthly amounts are lower: £1,023 per month Therefore if your course lasts for nine months or more you will have to show £9,207.

Standard Visitor Visa

Requirements:

*You must be over 18, (if you are under 18 you can apply for a child visitor visa)
*You must be enrolled at a language school, which is accredited by an organisation which is approved by the UK border agency. You do not need a CAS number (confirmation of acceptance of studies number)
*You do not need a minimum level of English.
*You must show that you have enough money - for London this is calculated at £1,334 per month.
To prove you have enough money you will need to show:

*Bank statements for several months

*Evidence of savings to use during your stay

You also need to show evidence that you are going to go back to your country at the end of your course. This could include:

*Evidence of travel plans (a return plane ticket)
